Me Adventuring through Cusco Airport

We arrived at the Cusco airport and were greeted by an airport pickup we had organized to take us to the Loki Hostel. I was super excited as the driver was waiting at the airport holding a sign with my name on it which made me feel super important haha.

Upon arriving at Loki Cusco I was impressed not only by the shear hugeness of the hostel (It holds over 200 people) but  more fact hostel was in a 450 year old restored building.

the loki dining/bar area, This is where all the magic happened. The hostel offers free breakfasts in the morning consisting of bread,jam etc. If you want something a little more filling you can order something from the hostel kitchen which offers breakfast,lunch and dinners at a fairly reasonable price.

But as Loki is a party hostel at heart it’s all about the drinking and with 3 happy hours a day and themed events every night designed to get you absolutely wasted this hostel would have to be by far the most intense fun party experience I have had at a hostel.

The thing that really gets you is the Loki specialty Blood bombs, What is a blood bomb you ask? Well it’s basically like a Jager bomb but instead of jagermeister they use vodka and red cordial dropped into red bull. During happy hour you could get two for the price of one and there would constantly be massive trains of blood bombs set up on the bar. When the train got to be particularly long it would transform into a flaming train and a massive flaming torch would be brought out lighting the drinks on fire resulting in half of the bar being set on fire. It certainly was an impressive thing to watch.

Each night the party would continue at the Loki bar till about 2am.After that people who wanted to party on would head down to one of the main clubs in town to continue the party until 5am. The two I went to were Mama Africa and Temple. There was even organized shuttle and wrist bands handed out on some nights to temple.

So you know that plan I had to only spend a few days in Cusco… Well that didn’t happen I ended up getting to 7 days of crazy partying. Luckilly for me I had no real time limit and even though I was being lazy and mostly drinking and eating at the hostel, I was still only going through about $33 USD a day which included the price for the 13 bed dorm.

I had fallen victim to the 5 lies of Loki!!! 

Overall I’d reccomend Loki as a hostel to stay at if you are looking to party, Just keep in mind that this is a party hostel so if you are staying in a dorm room especially one up near the bar it might be hard to sleep before 2am. However saying that I was in the 13 bed dorms and they were located  up the other end away from the bar making them quite quiet. (Except for the sounds of drunken backpackers stumbling around and the frequent sexual shenanigans going on :P)

While I was in Cusco I also went on a one day tour of The Sacred Valley and embarked on a 4 day Jungle trek to Machu Pichu which I will be writing about in the coming week.
