So Christmas is but a week away (Where did this year go?). Over the last few years, I have made it a bit of a Christmas/New Years/ Birthday tradition (My Birthday is on 28th December) to have epic holiday travel adventures.

It all started back in 2011 when I was living in Montreal Canada, My parents had never experienced a white Christmas before so they came over and we had Christmas in snowy Montreal, followed by a little road trip through Toronto, Buffalo, New York with the highlight of the trip being New years at Niagara Falls.

In 2012 I started this travel blog and was on my first big solo backpacking trip through Latin America where I had A Very Bocas Del Toro Christmas in Panama, laying on a beach, followed by my birthday in Panama city, and then one of the most epic new years I’ve had to date, where I was sailing through the Caribbean on a sailboat from Panama City to Cartegena Colombia. With copious amounts of spiced rum, fulfilling my lifelong dream of being a pirate. Yarrrrrr!

Last year I was in the beautiful city of Prague for Christmas where I got to experience my first European Christmas, and maybe partied a little too hard on numerous pub crawls. I then spent my birthday in Vienna and gorged myself on Schnitzel.

Followed by New Years in Budapest, Which involved Thermal Bath parties, Many ruin bars and culminated in hundreds of people letting off fireworks on the street in all directions. I was lucky to make it to 2014 without injury.

My 2014 Holiday Plans!

That brings us to 2014, The bar had already been set pretty high from previous years, what could I do to celebrate my second Christmas and new years in Europe? I eventually decided to go to Belgium for Christmas, Belgium has long been on my travel radar, Me being a massive lover of Belgian Beer, waffles and obsessed with fries, it seemed like a great place to spend Christmas.

My plan is to leave Edinburgh where I’m currently living on a whopping 18 hour bus journey to Antwerp on Friday 19th December, After spending a couple of days in Antwerp, I will move onto Brussels before spending Christmas in Bruges. I’m really excited to experience all the Christmas markets and food and armed with my new GoPro and camera gear I’m hoping to get some great video footage to share with all of you.

After Christmas, I’m off to Netherlands where I will be celebrating my last birthday in my 20’s in Amsterdam. (Ahhhh 29)

Finally for New years I am back on a plane to Edinburgh to get the full Scottish New Years experience with Hogmanay! A torchlight procession, giant street party, and new years ceilidh followed up with  a parade through Edinburgh and jumping into a loch on new years day,  in the Loony Dook, It’s going to be a pretty intense holiday period.

I am super excited to bring you all amazing Photo’s, Video’s and updates of my adventures on Twitter,Instagram,Facebook,Vine,Youtube and of course many new blog posts coming in the new year .

Do you have any Christmas or New Year travel traditions, I’d love to hear them in the comments below.

Nice trip plans! Looking forward to some of those videos. Every year I say I’ll spend Christmas and New Year on a Caribbean island but the thought of cold weather, turkey and family always makes me cave and head home…maybe next year…maybe! Enjoy your trip 🙂
