The famous abandoned Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh is Located just outside of the city on the banks of the Ganges. Once the home of famous spiritual instructor Yogi Maharishi Mahesh. Now part of the Rajaji National Park Tiger Sanctuary which is also home to  many animals, including panthers, elephants and over 400 species of bird

Exploring The Abandoned Beatles Ashram Rishikesh

This ashram was made famous after The Beatles visited India to practice Transcendental Meditation in the 60’s and were said to have written over 40 songs including many featured on “The White Album” and “Abbey Road.”

The now abandoned Ashram was closed more than three decades ago, with nature has slowly been reclaiming the grounds.

Although the Ashram was officially closed to the public that did not stop the many Beatles fans, and graffiti artists from sneaking in and paying tribute to the band with numerous colorful graffiti. which can be found scattered throughout the complex.

The Beatles Ashram was officially re-opened to the public in late 2015 with an entry fee to help pay for the maintenance of the compound and to fund the addition of a museum, cafeteria and nature walk in the future.

Entry to the Beatles Ashram and Rajaji National Park cost’s 150 Rupees for locals ($2) and 600 Rupees ($9) for Foreigners.

The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram (Beatles Ashram) can be found just to the south of Swarg Ashram in Rishikesh
